Diving in Sodwana Bay, South Africa

It has been a while since we first dove in Africa, but we have finally been able to upload our awesome video of diving in Sodwana Bay. Sodwana Bay is a tourist town (famous for diving) located smack in the middle of a marine preserve that stretches a whopping 93 miles from the Mozambique boarder to Cape Vidal, ZA.

Everyone helps launch the boats

All of the diving in Sodwana is done off the beach, with boats. The launch RHIB’s off the beach with tractors and carefully navigate them through the breaking swell to the reef. There are several areas of reef that are named based on the distance from the launch site, two-mile reef, five-mile reef, seven-mile reef, and nine-mile reef. All except two-mile are only accessible by advanced certification divers. The weather was great and we did one dive on five-mile reef site ‘Ribbons’ and a two-mile reef site ‘ Check out the map of the Sodwana Bay dive sites below.
