There are many reefs surrounding the island of Nosy Be, but none were as impressive as the protected marine sanctuary on Nosy Tanikely. The uninhabited island sits a few kilometers away from Nosy Be and Nosy Komba islands, the open water expanse acts as a natural barrier which really benefits the protected water of this marine sanctuary.

This reef ecosystem was teaming with life from the tiny to the apex predators. Check out this Leopard Shark that we saw while snorkeling. It is occasionally seen by other divers, but we were so humbled to watch it swim safely in it’s home waters.
